I don't know about your elf on the shelf, or your family holiday traditions, but our elf, (Eli) likes to bring us some goodies over the course of the month he is hanging around our house. And, like so many other family's we are careful about the prices of those things he brings. I mean, after all, these items are not meant to be the main event, but, rather, some fun items to help make memories and enhance excitement about the main event! So what, you may be asking, do I consider great gifts for Eli to bring, or even for secret Santa events that happen over a period of time? Well, there are numerous options!
But, before we jump into that list, let me share a few tips that I've learned to follow over the years. These are just things I like to keep in mind while planing Eli's visits or things of the like.
1. Don't be afraid of previously loved items. These gifts come from Santa, and he's not known for his packaging so don't stress too much about the lack of packaging.
2. Think about what you need anyways. Giving items that are needed such as body wash, adds magic to what may otherwise be dull and may help to minimize what would otherwise be a battle. It also prevents you from purchasing something in addition to what you would already be getting.
3. Think seasonal. Gifts that can be used right away, like decorations, are fun to give early so that they can be enjoyed this year instead of just being boxed up and forgotten about for next year.
4. The dollar store is a great source! Use it!
5. Have fun!
So, now that we've touched on those, let's jump into some fun ideas of gifts for your Elf to give or for you to give to your secret Santa!
1. Tree ornaments or tinsel
2. Tooth care items (tooth brushes, tooth paste, floss, ect.)
3. Seasonal books (perfect for encouraging bedtime stories and family time)
4. Holiday movies (again, great for family enjoyment!) and maybe some favorite movie snacks
5. Hot chocolate with mugs and toppings (peppermint, marshmallows, caramel, ect.)
6. little pads of paper, especially those with holiday or winter designs on the cover
7. Holiday/ winter pencils, pens, crayons or markers
8. Holiday or character themed activity pads
9. Stickers
10. Holiday socks or fuzzy socks
11. Baking supplies (if your family bakes for the holidays)
12. Candy canes
13. Holiday CDs/music
14. A letter from Santa
15. Holiday cards from Santa, your elf or the North Pole
16. Costume jewelry, especially holiday themed (earrings, necklace, head bands, bracelets, hair ties ect.)
17. Cups, plates, bowls, ect.
18. Nutcrackers
19. Holiday decorations (plush, window decorations, animated plush, candles, ect.)
20. Body wash, shampoo, ect.
Those are just some ideas but what I want to know is, does your elf bring any gifts? If so what? Leave your answers in the comments below!
