It's summer time, which means hot temperatures, the kids are home from school and, maybe, vacation time from work! Each of my kids have given their list of five shows to binge (mostly) on Netflix this summer (links will be added when all of the videos are uploaded) so I thought I'd share my list with all of you older crowd! In no particular order!
1. Gilmore Girls- This is one of my all time favorite T.V shows! It's a great coming of age story of both the teen aged daughter and the adults, it's a fun look into mother/daughter relationships on both extremes and it's fun! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cheer and you'll yell! And, even better, since the whole series has ended, you can watch the entire series at once!
2. Bones- This is another one of my favorite T.V shows of all time! I just couldn't help but fall in love with the quirky characters and, I'm not going to lie, Booth! The main character, Temperance Brennan is so quirky that it is, at times, almost painful to watch but, none the less, you'll find yourself laughing, crying, cheering and falling in love, too as you follow this group made of FBI agents and squinterns through a dozen series of crimes solved and villains caught, hearts broken, babies born and relationships unparalleled! This is another series that has ended, allowing you to, once again, experience the whole story at one time!
3. Riverdale- Riverdale is the dark and dramatic story untold about the well known Archie comic characters. While I wasn't a huge fan of the comics, I was curious about this show so, after hearing about it for a while, decided to give it a try. I found that I liked the first season alright, though I spent most of it trying to figure out who in the world would name their kids Jughead and Jellybean and thinking I had gone crazy because this was certainly not how I remembered the comics, it's the second season that convinced me it needs to be on this list. I'm currently watching the second season and I'm hooked!!! I'm constantly drawn in! This particular title only has two seasons up on Netflix as of the time I'm writing this, but it's worth checking out, especially if you're not looking for a big commitment like the one the previous two titles will provide.
4. The Fosters- This is a story that is made to be binged! This dramatic story is one of a family (the Adams-Foster family) with an amazing same sex couple navigating their way through the deep woods of raising five kids, one the biological child of Steph's from a previous marriage, a set of twins Leena and Steph adopted at a young age and then the tornado of emotions also known as Cali and her little brother make their way into the hearts of all! It's filled with emotion, heart and conversation starters about real world issues and everyday life situations. This family sees it all, the most amazing moments and the hardest. Shootings, kidnappings, and heartache.Sex, addiction, terminal and mental illnesses. Nothing is off limits. And, though all of that, I think the thing that touched me the most was the love and the desire to save who I can and be the best I can for the kids in my life! This series is almost over, currently airing the final episodes but you can check out all of the previous seasons and part of the final season right now on Netflix! It'll give you all of the feels!
5. Grace and Frankie- This is the most not family friendly title on this list. It is a Netflix original filled with colorful language and a vibrator business following Grace and Frankie. These two women are in their 70's and forced to reevaluate their lives and pretty much start over when their husbands announce that they are in love...with each other! While the target audience tends to be a generation older then me, I still spend the majority of my time watching this one of a kind series in tears...of laughter. It's fun. It's funny. It's inspiring. It's one of those shows that is just so much fun to watch, you don't want to stop!
So there you have it, five T.V shows I'll be binging....I mean that are binge worthy this summer! It's O.K! You can thank me later.
